MI Business Analyst

Location: Barcelona, Spain

Our client is an international insurance company with offices in the centre of Barcelona. They provide a complete insurance offering and travel assistance. The purpose is to assist every incident that may spoil the trip of the clients, whatever the duration, in the 200 countries where they operate.


As a MI Business Analyst, you will be working closely with the Underwriting Team, Commercial Account Managers, IT, Finance and Developers.

Your will be responsible for:

-Be the prime point of contact with the new geographies of the company's Travel Insurance for the MI related topics.
-Get a complete understanding of the collected data and provide a summarised feedback to the MI manager and developers.
-Design (with MI developers) Star Schemas to produce Management Information to agreed standards of accuracy and timescales for use internally and externally for all Travel schemes.
-Use SSIS to develop and populate an existing data warehouse. Importing from files and reports provided by both internal and external sources.
-Support to the customers: technical demonstrations, UAT, quick formations.
-Troubleshoot and resolve issues including research, debug and support.
-Document the data collected, on how it is integrated and how it is analysed.
-You are required to adhere at all times to all and any regulatory requirements that apply.
-You must adhere to all internal policies and procedures.
-You must at all times act in the best interests and consider the broader impact of your decisions on the company as a whole.


We are looking for candidates with the following experience, skills and qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

-Excellent Excel skills
-Experience within Financial Services environment, Insurance specifically
-Strong analytical skills
-Database structures, Data warehouse concepts, Data cleansing and Testing techniques
-Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, on complex projects that involve many different stakeholders
-Highly skilled with Microsoft Powerpoint

Desirable Requirements:

-Quickly understands the business issues and data challenges of clients organisation and industry
-Reviews and edits requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution.
-Exhibits confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problems.
-Proven experience of interacting with end users.
-SQL Server 2008R2, TSQL, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS
-Python or R
-C# or VB.net
-Results orientated with good communication and interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience:

-3 years previous experience within a Finance /Operations- Insurance environment.
-University degree level.
