We help farmers grow yield sustainably so they can be successful, produce healthier foods, better animal feeds and more fiber, while also reducing agriculture's impact on our environment

Geneticists are key members of cross functional teams that support our vegetable product pipeline by identifying and creating novel genotypes for critical vegetable traits. Team members may include plant breeders, pathologists, cell and molecular biologists, biochemists, physiologists, statisticians, and data scientists. These teams work together to delight our customers with innovative, integrated solutions which enable them to sustainably supply the world with delicious fruits and vegetables.

Major responsibilities include:
-Understand the needs of growers and consumers to help successfully develop next-generation fruit and vegetable varieties that consistently exceed their needs.
-Discover and leverage traits, resources, state of the art technologies and people to differentiate our Vegetable Seeds as a world class organization with innovative integrated solutions that bring value to our customers.
-Develop populations, collect and analyze phenotypic data, and apply genomic resources to identify and enable gene variants using modern linkage and association based mapping approaches.
-Partner with vegetable breeders across crops to facilitate the integration of new technologies into breeding workflows, secure trait advancement through improved selection methodology, and enable quantitative, data-driven selection decisions.
-Engage in the recruitment, training, development and leadership of research support personnel.
-Innovate solutions for our customers and support company's freedom to operate by filing invention disclosures and supporting patent applications.
-Develop long term project plans and lead global and interdisciplinary project teams to advance new traits from an early discovery phase to breeding adoption.

-Fluent in a relevant coding environment (e.g. R or Python) and experience in working with large data sets.

Desired skills/experience:
-Postdoctoral training in genetics, genomics, plant breeding, or a closely related field.
-People leadership experience.
-Experience in gene editing.
-Experience in characterizing plants for phenotypes including agronomic, quality, or disease resistance traits.
