Systems Director (SRE)

Reporting to the CIO and managing a team of dedicated engineers, the Director, SRE will bring a solid understanding of cloud / datacenter architecture and deployments to help guide our vision and strategy for production operations. Director, SRE will have a deep first-hand understanding of the DevOps, including production support, CI/CD, cloud service delivery and application design. RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Work with business and engineering leaders to create and implement processes that accelerate the delivery of new features and products with high quality and at scale.

- Establish a culture of high performance, transparency and continuous improvement as it relates to the infrastructure services and streamlining of the development pipeline.

-Lead a diverse team of experienced and talented engineers, providing guidance, support, mentorship and clear priorities.
Constantly seek opportunities to streamline existing processes by introducing automation, tools, or infrastructure to scale the business.

-Create and improve platform services and technologies to facilitate all our teams to build excellent products.

-Support the development organization’s continuous integration / continuous deployment pipeline.

-Work with Finance and Engineering to budget and manage the overall operations cost of the cloud ecosystem.

-Collaborate with Engineering and the business stakeholders to deliver and maintain a high level of availability together with a robust business continuity plan.

-Design, implement and maintain the monitoring and metrics systems, providing the business stakeholders with system performance and operational feedback.

-Work closely with technical leadership to provide input into the design and implementation of the security and scalability infrastructure for Launchmetrics cloud hosting environment.

-Direct and maintain relationships and negotiate contracts with key vendors

-Extensive and demonstrable experience managing a team with local and remote members; including hiring, retaining, managing performance and developing the skill set of direct reports

-Extensive and demonstrable experience successfully collaborating with engineering teams – in this case supporting a high-volume SAAS.

-Experience working with cloud technology – ideally AWS and Linux. One or more AWS certifications is highly desirable.

-Experience working in an agile software development organization. implementing and supporting development teams using CI/CD pipelines.

-The ability to use code to create automation and a working knowledge of our development tools which include Jenkins, Jira, Git, Ansible, Terraform, (but not necessarily all) are required.

-Knowledge of container orchestration is highly desirable.

-The ability to understand situations or problems by organizing information in a logical way. This includes anticipating problems for root causes and alternative solutions.
